Georgia Tech Names Charlie Bryant a President's Scholar and Stamps Scholarship Recipient

2012 Apr 6

The Georgia Institute of Technology has named Charlie Bryant of Gainesville, GA, one of 75 President's Scholars and one of 10 Stamps Leadership Scholarship recipients. A Computer Science major Bryant represents the top one percent of early applicants to Georgia Tech.

Considered the most prestigious merit award offered to incoming Georgia Tech first-year students, the President's Scholarship emphasizes scholarship, leadership, progress and service. Recipients are selected by a committee of Georgia Tech admissions professionals, scholarship administrators, faculty and President's Scholar alumni. More than 530 semifinalists were evaluated.

The Stamps Leadership Scholars Program, which resides within the President's Scholarship Program, provides full-ride awards and special enrichment opportunities for the extremely gifted recipients who are generally among the top 10 to 15 Tech freshmen every year. Over four years, recipients from Georgia will be awarded a package valued at approximately $104,000, while out-of-state recipients will receive a package valued at approximately $174,000.

"This investment in our state's and nation's most promising youth furthers Georgia Tech's mission through supporting students and producing alumni who will positively influence major technological, social and policy currents worldwide," said Chaffee Viets, director of the President's Scholarship Program.
